Jerry Billups

Instructor | Aviation Technology & Information Systems

Mr. Jerry Billups is currently an Instructor in the Aerospace Systems Technology and Continuing Education department at CFIT. He is also a Systems and Security Specialist for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Mr. Billups has a distinguished professional career which includes 6 years as a Ground Radar Systems Specialist for the United States Air Force. Mr. Billups also work as a Systems Engineer for The Raytheon Company before joining the FAA. He holds 4 FAA Certification credential authority in Radar, Automation, Communication, and Weather. He is also an agency recognized technical subject matter expert (SME) on legacy and Next Generation (NEXGEN) systems.

Mrs. Amber Beck

Instructor | Makeup Artistry

Mrs. Amber Beck is an experienced makeup artist and special effects technician who splits time between working on movies with outside FX labs and doing acclaimed work on live events. She has contributed makeup work to a number of films and television shows.

Mr. Marlon McRae

Instructor | Information Technology

Mr. Marlon McRae is an Assignment Coordinator/ Instructor at Central Florida Institute of Technology. He previously was a Multichannel Transmission Systems Operator and an Information Technology Specialist for the United States Army. He earned his Associate degree in Information Technology from the University of Central Florida, and his Bachelors degree in Information Technology (Cyber Security) from Excelsior College. Mr. McRae specializes in multi-functional/multi-user information processing systems, internal and external networking, computer information systems, and communications security. He holds Security + (Sec+), Cisco Certified Technician (CCT), and Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) IT certifications.

Mr. Kelby Walker

Instructor | Photography

Mr. Kelby Walker is a photographer originally from Atlanta, Georgia.  He followed his father’s footsteps into the United States Armed Forces, but instead of joining the Marine Corps like his father, Mr. Walker went into the U.S. Air Force.  As a “military brat” and active serviceman, he traveled the world and gained a level of respect for other cultures, more specifically the art of these cultures.  Mr. Walker has enjoyed taking pictures since he was a little kid. He studied at the New York Institute of Photography and specializes in the environmental portrait where his subject is photographed on location with both natural and studio lighting. Mr. Walker has worked as a  successful photographer for 15 years – in Destin, Florida; Okinawa, Japan; and currently in Washington DC.

Mr. Douglas Lowe

Instructor | Aviation Systems

Mr. Douglas Lowe is a graduate of Clayton State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. He is also an Alumni of Georgia Institute of Technology where he studied Electrical Engineering. His research for his senior capstone project for Clayton State University was focused on the use of mathematics in engineering with specific focus on Fourier Transforms and Wavelets. Mr. Lowe’s professional background is centered on Air Traffic Control Electronic Systems. He has been educated on the concepts, installation and repair of multiple systems ranging from RADAR, Communication and Navigation. He began his career in electronics in 1999 with the United States Marine Corps where he served for 5 years. He then continued that career with the Department of Defense where he served for 3 years. Mr. Lowe is currently an employee for the Federal Aviation Administration where he continues his career as an Airways Transportation Systems Specialist.

Mr. Colin Harris

Instructor | Cinematic Studies

With his vivacious imagination and admiration for the cinematic arts, filmmaker COLIN ALWIN HARRIS, is riding the waves of the buzz behind his recent action thriller movie, Haima. Since its premiere in September 2016, HAIMA, has won “Best Florida Project at the Central Florida Film Festival, “Best Feature Film” at the MAC Film Festival in Brazil, and received an Honorary Mention Award from the Indie Gathering Film Festival.

Colin Harris is a screenwriter, director, and producer. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Excelsior College, a master’s degree from Troy University, and MBA certificate from Post University and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree from the University of West Florida. He also studied professional screenwriting from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

Harris’s interest in the cinematic arts began in 2002 when he started his own production company, Global Impact Empire Entertainment, and began producing projects on the Florida Gulf Coast. In 2004 he shot and edited “Universal Martial Arts Hall of Fame Expo, and in 2006 he directed and produced a 21-minute short film, “Flawed Proposal”. In 2012, he assisted in the production of the award winning documentary “Pui Chan: Kung Fu Pioneer”. In 2009, the busy husband and father switched his focus to sharing his knowledge as an instructor at Central Florida Institute of Technology. In 2016, Harris completed the awarding winning feature film titled ‘HAIMA”.

Continuing studies certificates are earned credentials that document learning. They demonstrate to employers and supervisors that you have studied a body of knowledge or have mastered a practice or methodology. These courses are not Semester Credit Hours (SCH) courses, instead students earn Continuing Education credit (CEU).

Learn about a specific topic in a short time (usually 6-8 weeks). These courses can not be used for the purpose of obtaining a diploma or degree in the state of Florida.

Our instructor facilitated online courses are engaging, convenient, and highly interactive. The course material is available to you 24 hours a day via an internet connection. Courses begin every few weeks so be sure to check the next start date.

These comprehensive online courses are designed to teach valuable specialized skills in a convenient six to eight-week format. Courses are offered monthly and at a special discounted price. Still, an in-house military discount is available for all courses.

Course Cancellations and Refund Policy for Noncredit Courses

Central Florida Institute of Technology reserves the right to cancel courses, change meeting places, or make other necessary and appropriate changes to the noncredit schedule. Courses that have not met minimum enrollment three days prior to the start date may be canceled. Refunds for registration fees for noncredit courses are subject to the following requirements:

  1. If a course is cancelled, a complete refund is issued automatically within 30 days.
  2. A 100 percent refund is issued upon the request of the student if the student officially withdraws in writing from a course prior to the first class meeting.
  3. A 75 percent refund of is issued upon the student’s request if the student officially withdraws and requests a refund prior to the end of the first week of the course. For 6-week courses, refund requests must be submitted to the college no later than the first Friday of the course. No partial refunds are given for courses with one class meeting.
  4. No refund is issued after the first week of the class.
  5. Fees for specific instructional materials collected at registration are refunded unless the student receives the materials.
